This 1963 Riviera was built during the first year of production and is particularly special, as it was purchased by the consignors father in April 1966 when the car was just a few years old and has remained in the family since. Finished in Burgundy, this Riviera has been lovingly cared for and has been the subject of a restoration about 15 years ago.Finished in stunning deep Burgundy, the Riviera was penned by GM styling legend BIll Mitchell as a ground-up design that combined elements from the best European and American cars of the time. This example benefits from a comprehensive restoration in 2011 by Duncans Speed and Custom in Lakewood, WA which included a repaint in its original color, new interior and rebuilt engine and gearbox. Although it was completed nearly 15 years ago, the car remains in excellent condition and could still be taken with pride to any show in the area. The car sits on 15-inch steel wheels with attractive full-wheel hubcaps, which sit in front of a set of 12-inch aluminum drum brakes. On the interior, black leather covers the front and rear bucket seats, with large swaths of aluminum on the dashboard and wood on the door panels. The Riviera was one of the early versions of the Personal Luxury Coupe class of car that was popular in the era, and it is certainly luxurious on the inside. Drop down behind the large 2-spoke steering wheel and you are met by a space-age looking dashboard with the gauges coming out of the aluminum-look dashboard panel. To your right sits a high mounted AM radio with a more modern CD head unit in the trunk, and climate controls situated above it.Under the hood sits Buicks legendary 401ci Nailhead V8 that produces 325 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Breathing through a 4bbl carburetor, this engine gives the Riviera punchy acceleration and effortless high speed cruising abilities. Power is then sent through a smooth 2-speed Dynaflow automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. From the factory, this car was fitted with power steering and power brakes. The engine and gearbox were both rebuilt during the 2011 restoration, and the car runs and drives fantastically now.For the ultimate in 1960s style and luxury, the Buick Riviera is the car to have. This example benefits from long-term ownership, and a restoration that still looks great, but has enough miles under its belt that you know things work properly.*Additional Information* * Restoration Invoices * Multiple Show Trophies * Original Owners Manual * Warranty Booklet * First Owner and Stamp From Selling Dealer * Documentation From NewFor more information on this 1963 Buick Riviera or any of our 100+ High-Performance, Exotic and Special Interest cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40,000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
